It’s hard to take courses in the summer when the majority of people are off heading away on summer vacations.

But luckily, you can still explore the city around you and visit some great local gems! Whether it be around your campus or somewhere in the GTA, here are some close local places to visit in between your summer studies.

Near the North Campus

Humber Arboretum

Nature is in your backyard! (literally).

At the North campus, take a walk through the beautiful Humber Arboretum filled with nature and wildlife. Take a study break and get some fresh air while enjoying the summer heat, you may even run into some beautiful butterflies!

Wet ‘n’ Wild

Looking to refresh and take a quick dip in between classes?

Spend a day at Wet ‘n’ Wild! Ten minutes away from campus you can hop on a tube on the Caribbean Chaos, swim in the waves of the Big Surf, and ride on slides from the Bermuda Triangle.

Burger Boy Restaurant

If you need a break from cooking, head over to Burger Boy Restaurant located directly across from the North Campus.

Stop by for freshly cooked burgers, fries, hot dogs, onion rings and more! After all, you need to fuel your brain with good food to ensure you can study hard.

Near the Lakeshore Campus

Humber Bay Park West

For a beautiful skyline and breathtaking water views, check out the Humber Bay Park West located directly behind the Lakeshore campus.

Feel like you are on a “staycation” by enjoying the warm lakeshore breeze and feeling the sand in between your toes. We suggest you go down on a sunny day pop on some sunglasses and read your favourite book.

Humber Bay Shores Farmers’Market

Want to get some amazing fruits and vegetables and support local?!

Check out the Humber Bay Shores Farmer’s Market open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Saturday to enjoy tasty food from homemade pastries to specialty ciders!

Travel a little further…

Toronto Islands

For only $8.50 you can escape on an adventure to the Toronto Islands and feel like you’re on a vacation getaway!

Scarborough Bluffs

Although a bit of a longer trip, the Scarborough Bluffs will have you feeling like you’re viewing one of the wonders of the world. Refresh your head from your studies and take a hike across this gorgeous park.

We hope that you’re able to take some time out of your busy schedule to head over to some of these places. School, in general, can be hard, but it can be especially hard when you have to study while so many people are enjoying summer vacation. Remember, you can still have fun even though you have school, it just takes some organization.
