Student Advocate, Humber College
Meshanda Phillips is a graduate of the Humber College Bachelor of Social Science, Criminal Justice program (2020) and holds an Ontario Graduate Certificate in Alternate Dispute Resolution (2021). Her biggest passions are being a mom of two and giving back to her community through advocacy, volunteer work and charitable events. Meshanda plans to pursue her Masters in Adult Education and Community Development with the goal of opening her own non-profit organization to help survivors of intimate partner violence. Meshanda looks forward to advocating for students as the Lakeshore Student Advocate.

Melany Palacios-Naranjo is in her 4th year of the justice studies program. She is an active member of the school community through her involvement in ALPHA PHI SIGMA, the Guelph-Humber Pre-Law Society where she and her partner were finalists in the 2022 Lions Moot Cup Competition, and as an IGNITE Board of Director for the 2021-2022 term. Her biggest passions include advocating for mental health resources and awareness through her involvement in research studies, as well as defending those who have been done injustices. She also has a passion for spoiling her puppy. Melany plans to continue her journey by furthering her education in the legal field and representing those who may feel like they do not have a voice. Melany looks forward to advocating for the students as the Guelph-Humber student advocate.
