All in favour, say I!

IGNITE’s 2020 Annual General Meeting (AGM) was held on Friday, March 27, 2020. To those who attended, thank you for amplifying your voice and helping propel IGNITE forward.

The AGM was conducted online, as both Humber College and the Univeristy of Guelph-Humber campus are closed for the remainder of the Winter 2020 semester. However, despite the modified format, our members covered important points from the 2019-2020 academic year and discussed plans for the year ahead.

Major achievements include the introduction of free menstrual kits into campus bathrooms, over 1,000 academic advocacy engagements and the establishment of the $250,000 Emergency Financial Relief Fund for students affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Here’s what IGNITE did to improve the lives of students this year, by the numbers:

3. IGNITE’s 2020-2021 budget was presented

IGNITE broke down how student fees will be used in the upcoming year. As always, IGNITE will use your fees to develop programs and provide resources that enrich your student experience. This will include services like the Sleep Lounge, Soupbar and our annual Tax Clinic.

The itemized 2020-2021 financial plan is as follows:

Your fee breakdown:

Mandatory Fees: Mandatory fees are fees paid by all Humber and UofGH students; they are included alongside your tuition in your annual invoice and include programs like our health and counselling services.

Optional Fees: Optional fees are billed with your consent and allow IGNITE to further improve your student experience.

Ancillary Fees: Ancillary fees are also included alongside your tuition and fund things such as convocation and building maintenance.

Fees are allocated to specific functions according to demand and necessity. To view how funds are distributed, please reference the legend in the bottom left-hand corner of the graphic.
