Establish your “me time”

Have you seen a movie lately? I wouldn’t be surprised if you said you’ve been too busy and don’t have the time.

If I’m being honest, focusing on our studies is a full-time job. It requires clocking – in daily and even working on the weekends too.

Although it can be exhausting, remember balance is key. In fact, striking a balance between your studies and prioritizing “me time” can work wonders.

Whenever you feel overwhelmed, take a break and do something fun whether that’s playing a video game solo or hanging out with friends. It’s more beneficial than you know.

Here’s why you should strike a balance.

Prevents burnout

*Ugh, not this again*

Listen, burnouts are no joke. You end up feeling like a zombie, just wandering around.

Burnouts occur when we’re unable to juggle everything on our plates. You’re extremely exhausted due to feeling swamped with work and tasks that you have to complete.

Though it can seem overwhelming at times, it’s important not to push yourself too far. You need to find time for yourself and prioritize your well-being. I promise, it will help you in the long run by preventing burnout.

Improves productivity

*The goal is to study all night*

Sorry to break it to you, but you should stay away from all-nighters. They may seem like the perfect solution to “ace” the semester, but they do more harm than good.

And don’t be fooled that you’re energetic at 3 a.m., your body is just fighting to stay awake.

What you should do is take a break. Acknowledge how you’re feeling and listen to your body. If you’re tired, get some rest. I guarantee you that you’ll be a lot more productive if you listen to your body and give it the breaks it needs.

Improves health

Constantly stressing about work and school can be detrimental to our well-being.

But, by finding a balance, you can prioritize all things needed to improve your health while still getting your work done. Consider using wellness apps for mindfulness sessions or workouts. If that’s not your style, you can even start journaling, where you identify and note your feelings. That way, you’re able to reduce your stress levels and feel happy.

Simple ways to find a balance

I know what you’re thinking, there’s too much going on. Well, you’re right! But that doesn’t mean you can’t find a balance. After all, being stressed all day certainly isn’t doing anyone any good.

Here are some simple ways to find a balance in your life:

  • Socialize with friends – Visit a restaurant, catch a movie or just get together and hang out at someone’s place. And if you’re looking to make more friends, you can always join a club or play games online.
  • Prioritize yourself – nothing is wrong with establishing your own “me time.” This is the time when you catch up on your favourite series or read a book that’s trending on TikTok. It’s your time to relax.
  • Acknowledge your feelings – Do you feel tired? Maybe you should get some rest. Once you stop pushing your feelings away, it’s easier to strike a balance.

Finding a balance is easier said than done. But it’s essential to reduce stress and live a productive life. Going forward, always take care of yourself. It’s the key to striking a balance and feeling happy.

P.S. Go out with some friends soon!

I tried meditating for a week and this is how it went.
