We’re here for you.
You spoke. We listened.
It’s no secret that students are in need of support, especially considering over 5,000 of you applied to our Emergency Financial Relief Fund (EFRF) resulting in more than $1.2 M being allocated. But we know that wasn’t enough.
To continue our commitment to student success, IGNITE is providing an additional $250,000 toward COVID-19 bursaries for domestic and international students through the COVID-19 Support our Students (SOS) Bursary Fund.
Humber College Advancement and Alumni established the new fund to assist students who are experiencing financial hardship due to the COVID-19 pandemic and are continuing their full-time studies in the Summer 2020 Semester
Am I eligible?
The SOS Fund is available to returning domestic and international students registered to study full-time in a post-secondary program for the Summer 2020 semester who are facing financial hardship due to job loss or increased living and educational costs, like internet access or equipment.
Students who demonstrate additional financial need, such as covering the basic cost of living or studying costs, could be considered for top-up funds in addition to the COVID-19 Bursary.
How do I apply?
The application can found on MyHumber as COVID-19 Bursary.
To apply, please complete the online Interactive Budget Calculator on MyHumber and provide a statement outlining how the COVID-19 situation is affecting your finances. You will also need to provide an estimate of your income, savings, and expenses for your study period.
What else should I know?
If your application is approved, $500 will be awarded as a tuition bursary and credited to your student account in May 2020. The bursary will go toward the tuition balance first and subsequent credit would then be paid out to you.
As we have with past challenges, we’ll get through this together. IGNITE is committed to your success–keep your eyes peeled for more important updates.
