Celebrate the power of your voice with this curated IGNITE Election playlist.

The most anticipated week of the semester has arrived — Voting Week!

In the coming days, you get to decide who will be part of the 2025-2026 IGNITE’s Board of Directors. As students, you have the power to choose who will represent you and voice your opinions.

To set the mood for this big decision, here are some of the best songs to get you in the voting spirit!

Stand Up for Something – Andra Day feat. Common

Featured in the movie Marshall, this award-winning song uplifts and inspires you to fight for what you believe in and stand up for what’s right.

It also encourages you to support your community and those who advocate for meaningful causes, making it the perfect song to reflect on who you want to stand up for in the IGNITE Election.

Freedom – Pharrell Williams

Pharrell Williams always brings the most energetic vibes, especially with “Freedom,” a song that reminds you of your freedom! Sometimes, we forget that we are the ones in control of our lives, not others.

Think about the lyrics, “Your first name is Free, last name is Dom,” when you’re casting your vote—because it’s YOUR decision.

Only The Young – Taylor Swift

This song is one of the best representations of how it feels to fight for what you want and not receive the desired results.

Yet, it gives hope in knowing that “Only the young can run.” Your opinion is important and will be heard if you keep voicing it!

Come Together – The Beatles

What’s better than some Beatles tunes in a playlist? You need to hear this song to feel its power. “Come Together” brings you to a space of communal anger and desire to change things for the better!

Get Up, Stand Up – Bob Marley

If your sense of social unity comes in a reggae style, “Get Up, Stand Up” will be your new favourite song. Bob Marley urges us to stand up for our rights and never give up in this fight.

Motivate yourself and your friends to take part in the IGNITE Election with this perfect addition to your playlist.

Everybody Wants to Rule the World – Tears for Fears

For the most nostalgic feeling, tune in to “Everybody Wants to Rule the World.”

Listen to this timeless hit and feel like the main character taking control of your life. This song is an anthem against the destruction caused by greed, bringing meaning back to life without the need for power.

Run the World (Girls) – Beyoncé

Ready for some dancing? Not only is this song an iconic feminist anthem, but it’s also the perfect track to get in the best mood—whether it’s for the IGNITE Election, starting your day on a high note or just because. Channel Beyoncé’s energy to vote for the candidate you want to win!

Rise Up – Andra Day

One more time, Andra Day motivates us to continue persevering. She says that all we need to rise up is hope. So, whenever you hear “Rise Up,” let it serve as a reminder to keep your hopes up.
