“Success is super heavy…and you have to be strong enough to carry it.”

Tiffany Haddish

Tiffany Haddish is wicked smart, wicked funny and wicked successful.

When she isn’t busy writing and performing side-splitting stand-up material, you can usually find her on the set of the next blockbuster comedy film, running lines for your favourite TV show or turning her experiences into a New York Times-bestselling memoir. She also uses her platform to support youth in foster care through her not-for-profit organization, the She Ready Foundation. Plus, she—you know what? You name it, and this star has probably done it.

And that’s precisely why IGNITE looks up to her.

Not only is Haddish a front-runner in the entertainment industry, but she’s also an example of how you don’t need to confine your career story to one specialty or interest. If you want it, go for it—Tiffany Haddish did; and look where it got her.

Humber and UofGH students had the chance to learn more about this entertainer’s professional journey first-hand on Thursday, Nov. 18 when she headlined IGNITE’s latest Real Talks event. But, if you couldn’t make it (or if you could and are itching to hear from her more—we sure are), you’re in luck!

That’s because we snagged an opportunity to sit down one-on-one with Haddish ahead of her appearance to talk some more about her experiences, goals, accomplishments and her advice for students. She shares insights about “finding the funny” in your failures, the importance of trying new things and how to liven up any room you enter.
