Student Advocates

Student Advocates empower students by amplifying their voices, addressing concerns, and ensuring accountability, consistently achieving this goal through their support for multiple projects that positively impact students’ campus experiences.

Advocacy Priorities

IGNITE prioritizes transparency and ongoing improvement in everything we do. Central to our advocacy is our unwavering commitment to fostering community, championing equity, and promoting sustainability across the Humber and UofGH campuses and beyond. This year we focused advocacy efforts on international student support, on-campus food vendors, enhancing paid work integrated learning opportunities, and Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging (EDIB)

Academic Program Representatives

Your voice matters; that’s why we have academic program representatives dedicated to listening and initiating positive changes within their academic programs. Building on the success of the program at the University of Guelph-Humber, we have extended the APR initiative to Humber programs. With this expansion, our goal is to empower students to voice their concerns effectively and drive positive changes within their programs

Election

IGNITE’s Board of Directors is comprised of elected students who govern the affairs of IGNITE, set its strategic direction, and approve all major decisions that affect how the organization represents students. For the 2024-25 IGNITE election, 15 candidates competed, resulting in the appointment of 10 new directors for the upcoming year, with a student voter turnout of 22.9%.

As we celebrate the conclusion of another year, we want to recognize the crucial support we received from Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber students. From exciting events to invaluable resources, this year showcased the dedication of everyone involved in our mission. Looking ahead, we’re committed to building on our experiences, learning from challenges, and continuously evolving to enhance the experience of our campuses. Stay connected with us, and we look forward to seeing you in the upcoming year!
