You already know IGNITE is all about making the best of your student experience. But we don’t stop there, we go even further to make sure you’re looked after – both physically and mentally.
In response to all the feedback from you, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve made some changes to our health plan!
The IGNITE Health and Dental Insurance Plan has many benefits, like dental and vision care and prescription medications.
Here are the new updates of the most student-friendly health plan:
All Humber part-time students are automatically enrolled
Every year we hear the same question: how do I opt in for the IGNITE Health and Dental Insurance Plan as a part-time student? Well, guess what? You’re now automatically enrolled!
Before, Humber part-time students had to opt in, at the start of their academic year, for the IGNITE insurance plan. Now, both full-time and part-time students are automatically enrolled in our Balanced Plan!
Students at the University of Guelph-Humber will only be automatically enrolled in the plan if they are considered full-time. If you are a part-time Guelph-Humber student, please request an opt-in form by emailing [email protected].
Contraceptive coverage increase
We love student feedback, especially when it leads to positive changes.
The previous contraceptive insurance amount allocated to your Balanced Plan was $60. Now, it’s been bumped up to $500 worth of contraceptive coverage!
And don’t forget, IGNITE provides free menstrual products in washrooms available across North, Lakeshore and Guelph-Humber campuses.
A few more things to note
In addition to our Balanced Plan, we also offer students the Enhanced Drug Plan and the Enhanced Dental Plan.
If you are interested in switching or opting out of these plans, here’s what you need to know:
- Fall semester – Oct. 13, 2023, at 4 p.m.
- Winter semester – Feb. 16, 2024, at 4 p.m.
- Summer semester – June 7, 2024, at 4 p.m.
Remember, you can only make these changes in your first semester. And if you want to opt out, you need to provide proof of other coverage.
The changes on the IGNITE Dental and Health Insurance Plan were made to better suit your needs.
