Leverage your academic life with these campus resources

It’s easy to take on-campus services for granted. The student hustle and bustle often makes us forget about what is offered to us. But it is important to make the most of them as they can have a significant impact on your well-being and personal development.

We compiled a list of campus resources available for both University of Guelph-Humber and Humber College students that you might want to check out.

Aside from an extensive collection of print materials, the library features dedicated study areas, collaborative spaces and quiet zones. It is also equipped with state-of-the-art technology such as 3D printers, laser and vinyl cutters and video studio.

Career Success Centre

VIA Harry Nguyen

We start our post-secondary journey by studying the most basic courses of the program. Over the following years, our heart begins to figure out what we like. As we proceed, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed because we don’t know what to do next. This is when the Career Success Centre steps in.

Simply book an appointment and the Career Success Centre team will provide you all the support you need to thrive. From building a strong resume to mock interviews, they are here to help you achieve a successful career.

International Centre

It can be hard to be away from home for the first time. Many international students have to juggle between school, part-time work and legal documents – that’s why the International Centre is here to help.

They provide visa support, health insurance registration and assistance for anything that might be bothering international students. The International Centre is available at both North and Lakeshore campuses, all you have to do is swing by Monday – Friday from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. and 2 p.m. – 4 p.m.

Peer tutoring

If you are having a hard time in your classes, your peers have got your back!

This service provides students with one-on-one or group tutoring. For your convenience, the service is offered both virtually and in person. To make use of it, just go to their website, pick your desired date and you are all set. Of course, this is free of charge.

If you are excelling academically, you can also sign up to be a peer tutor to earn some extra cash!

Your professors, classmates or academic advisors

VIA Harry Nguyen

If you don’t know where to start, just go ask your professors and your fellow classmates. That’s what I did when I first started school.

For me, building connections with my professors is my first attempt at networking. Since most professors are big shots in their field, striking up a conversation with them is already somewhat similar to a real networking event, without any pressure and awkwardness.

Not only they will provide feedback and guidance, but they also give valuable advice that will elevate your academic journey.
