Hands-on work experience is one of the biggest benefits for students because it allows them to apply in-class learning to real world scenarios and build confidence as they go. Many students have also improved their communities through unpaid internships or placements.

IGNITE wants to recognize this dedication and unpaid work. That’s why we’re proud to introduce the IGNITE GLOW Scholarship.

What is the GLOW Scholarship?

GLOW stands for Giving Learners Opportunities to Work. It launches on Tuesday, March 1, 2022.

Each year, the scholarship will award one student from each Academic Faculty/Program at Humber and UofGH. In total, this scholarship will award 13 students with $2,000 each.

These are students who make a difference in their communities. And, whose work has contributed to community development and outreach.

Why was the GLOW Scholarship created?

To financially recognize and support students in unpaid internships or placements. Understandably, while gaining work experience, financial matters can become a source of stress.

Additionally, nonprofit organizations operate for a collective benefit. And, the community development sector is a big contributor to improving quality of life. Hence, our goal is to give students the ability to work in these sectors as well as highlight students who are hard working game changers. 

Above all, we hope this scholarship will allow students to continue their work and careers in these areas.

Am I eligible?

To be eligible for this scholarship, you must:

  • be a current student of Humber or UofGH
  • either be about to start, are currently on, or recently completed your unpaid placement
  • complete the IGNITE GLOW Scholarship Application Form

How to I apply?

Eligible applicants can apply online. The application form will ask about your unpaid work experience and how it impacted you financially.

You can apply for the IGNITE GLOW Scholarship starting on Tuesday, March 1. Applications will close on Sunday, March 20.
