A message from IGNITE regarding the Humber Polytechnic Board of Governors
In recent days, 9 members of Humber Polytechnic’s Board of Governors, including IGNITE Director and student representative Ana Downes, resigned from their positions on the Board of Governors. The confidential nature of these meetings legally prohibits board members from sharing any details that led to the resignations; however, we know and trust in Ana’s decision-making skills and fully support her choice.
Humber’s Board of Governors is responsible for ensuring Humber is managed effectively. They oversee the operations of the polytechnic, including financial matters and business activities, to ensure everything runs smoothly. While the recent resignations will not affect your daily student experience, it is important to fill the vacant board seats for the long-term success of the institution. Humber is actively working to identify suitable candidates to take on these roles.
The Ministry of Colleges and Universities mandates student presence on post-secondary Board of Governors and IGNITE strongly believes students should be actively engaged and have their voices heard. We are dedicated to ensuring a smooth transition for a new student representative as we continue to advocate for you.
IGNITE will continue to keep you updated. Until then, If you have questions, touch base with us!
