It’s not about perfection. It’s the effort and progress.

Between endless assignments, pulling all-nighters and the occasional “reply to two peers” discussion posts, it’s easy to feel like you’re barely keeping it together.

But here’s the truth — you are doing far better than you think!

When chasing major life goals and milestones, we often forget to appreciate the small wins that show how far we have come.

So, here are a few signs you are actually thriving.

1. You are showing up to class (even when you just didn’t feel like it)

Let’s be real, making it out of the comfiest bed can feel like the most difficult task in the world. But you still did it and that’s a win.

Making it to your in-person class on time, attending an online class or even just tuning into your prerecorded lectures means that you are showing up and you are showing up for yourself.

And that’s a win worth celebrating!

2. You finished that discussion post

Typing “Hi, I found your post very insightful,” and staring at your screen while you try to think about what’s the best way to reply to your classmate can feel like a struggle, especially when you see the clock hit 11:58 p.m.

But hitting that submit button at the end is still progress. It shows that you are committed, even on days when your motivation is missing in action.

3. You are helping your peers

Supporting one another is a subtle sign of growth, compassion and confidence. Maybe you helped someone understand a concept they didn’t pick up, shared your notes or even just gave a pep talk before their presentation.

Small actions like these that make a big difference show you have learned enough to teach and encourage someone else. And that’s not nothing.

4. You are celebrating small joys

Treating yourself to boba after a long day, taking a cozy nap or winning the cutest plushie from the IGNITE claw machine. These are small reminders that life isn’t just about grades or deadlines.

Additionally, find joy in your friends’ achievements. Maybe they aced the presentation they were dreading or made it through that one professor‘s class (we have all been there).

Finding joy in small things is a huge sign of emotional maturity — and that’s a win!

5. You are balancing more than you realize

You are not “barely surviving.” You are balancing more than you realize.

Between classes, part-time jobs, extracurriculars and of course a social life, students are expert jugglers. If you are managing to attend lectures, pay your bills and still find time to grab coffee with your friends, then you are already a master at time management.

6. You are learning from your messy moments

In every student’s life, there will come a point where you forget to submit an assignment or have a presentation that just doesn’t work, but instead of beating yourself up for it, you reflect and move on.

Better yet, you learn and come back ten times better.

Growth doesn’t look like perfection. Growth is who you strive to become after you have failed.

7. You are still dreaming big

Even after all of this, even when you are tired, motivated, unsure, enthusiastic or feeling lost, you still have goals. Goals that you are working towards.

You are still picturing the future that you want, even if it feels far away sometimes.

The simple fact that you care is enough to prove that you are doing better than you think, because the act of trying means you haven’t given up.

Small wins = big win

Progress is quiet. It’s in the everyday choices you make, the small acts you do and the moments you show kindness towards others and yourself that keep you moving forward.

So next time you doubt yourself, remember: if you’re reading this, showing up and trying your best, you’re already doing better than you think!
