With great responsibility comes a greater contact list!

We are all aware of how daunting it can be to not know who to reach out to when in need, especially if you’re an international student still figuring out your way around Toronto and Humber.

Student life can always catch you off guard. But the secret to tackling it is pretty simple, it’s all about being prepared and that comes from having an updated contact list.

You already know your friends, family and relatives will try to be there for you, but even they can be busy at times or too far away to help.

So, from making sure you know who to call in times of emergencies to being the person who saves a party because they have the pizza guy’s number, a good contact list makes it all easier.

Here are some must-have phone numbers as a Humber or University of Guelph-Humber student.

Humber Campus Walk

While campus is fun, sometimes it can be a bit intimidating to walk to your bus stop or back to your car during the wee hours of the night. Luckily, during such times, a buddy who safely escorts you is only one call away.

You can request Campus Walk 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Save (416) 675-8500 or ext.8500 as your ‘Campus walking buddy!’

An absolute must-have contact is the Humber Department of Public Safety.

During times of emergencies on campus even if you call 911, make sure you contact the Public Safety department too because they can easily locate you and reach you quicker.

Save (416) 675-622 ext. 4000 as your ‘campus 911.’

Nothing says student life like having to order a pizza at 2 a.m. because you forgot to have dinner while working on an overdue assignment.

Apart from Pizza Pizza and Dominoes, late night local pizza places near lakeshore are:

Calabrese Pizza: (416) 503- 0999
Wing Machine: (647) 351-7183

And if you’re near North Campus we suggest saving the number for City South Pizza: (416) 744-5053

There are many other food places open after midnight, make sure you add them to your contact list too!

Local salons

Some days are just treat-your-self days; however, often having to search up a salon feels like quite the task when you just want to relax. On those days having an already researched salon can be the exact thing that pushes you to carry on with the plan.

Phone ‘em up and set up a spa day!

Financial advisor

When you start a bank account or the next time you go in to discuss investments, make sure you quickly pick up the financial advisor’s business card and add them to your contacts. This way you can set up appointments directly with your advisor or ask them any pressing questions without having to wait in a long phone queue.
