On Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022, Jessie Reyez, a Canadian R&B singer and songwriter, told us that to succeed, we have to be willing to do whatever it takes.

From doing odd jobs to having a song with Eminem, Jessie Reyez has made a name for herself in the music industry.

She believes that if you have the passion and dedication, you can achieve it!

Reyez was born in Toronto to immigrant parents, whom she credits for being the support system which led to her success.

She started her journey in 2014 when she and King Louie worked on their single, Living in the sky.

This semester, as a part of IGNITE’s Real talk series, Jessie joined us to share her success story and answer questions regarding what it means to be successful – even when the odds are stacked against you.

Jessie provided industry insights as well as tips and tricks she has learned throughout her journey. And she also sat down with us for an exclusive interview to answer our questions.
