Hop on the club train and discover the different platforms you can benefit from.
Post-secondary can sometimes feel like arriving at Union Station for the first time—too many people, too much noise and everyone but you seems to know where they are going. Classes are one platform, assignments are another. Social life? That is a whole different train line that you have to figure out. It can be overwhelming, especially when you have to get on the right train but have no clue which platform to board.
Enter campus clubs—your one-way ticket to finding the right platform.
Platform 1: Find your people

The first train you catch with campus clubs will lead you to finding a community. Whether it’s gaming, anime, sports or cultural identity, clubs bring together students who share your interests.
You switch from travelling alone to commuting with friends. Think of it as finding commuters who are headed in the same direction and get off on the same platform as you.
Platform 2: Skills beyond classes

Lectures and classes are designed to sharpen your knowledge, sure, but clubs are where you implement what you learned. By running events, managing a club or even participating in activities, you sharpen your skills without it feeling like work.
It’s like trying out different train routes and learning where they lead you. Discovering shortcuts, experiencing new places and sometimes just enjoying the ride. These skills can later help with your career and give you the confidence way before graduation.
Platform 3: Expand your horizon

Say you missed your stop and landed in a completely different place from where you originally planned. Instead of walking back, you decide to tour around and discover your new favourite cafe/study spot.
Clubs work the same way. You might join for the free snacks or maybe your friend dragged you along, but you end up discovering your new favourite hobby, whether that’s dancing, coding or even Dungeons & Dragons. These unexpected experiences make your student journey exciting and worthwhile.
Platform 4: Unlock opportunities

When you are in a club, connections happen naturally. You get to meet people from different programs in different years. Who knows? These new connections might help you land an internship or give you the perfect advice that you can use in the future.
Clubs will connect you to people that you’d never meet otherwise and open doors to opportunities that you didn’t know even existed.
Platform 5: Destress detour

We get it—post-secondary can be stressful with last-minute discussion posts, multiple assignments and, let’s not forget, the group projects. That’s why clubs also serve as an outlet for you to destress and relax.
Joining a meditation, yoga or a book club can give the time to breathe, have fun and recharge after a long day of lectures. It helps you find your balance and organize your mind, avoiding burnout.
Platform 6: Memory lane

When you look back on your post-secondary experience years from now, you might remember the study crams, last-minute deadlines and maybe bits of ECON 101, but you’ll cherish the long-lasting friendships you made along the way.
Staying up until 3 a.m., planning club events and the laughs you shared during the weekly meetings. Clubs make your everyday student life into something memorable, something you can look back on and smile.
Arriving at Terminus Station

Joining a club isn’t about filling in the time gaps. It’s about how you travel through your student years and make the most of them. Meeting new people, building skills and experiencing memories you’ll remember for life.
The club you pick today could be the thing that transforms your whole post-secondary experience tomorrow!
