Suprise! These might just be waiting around the corner

Getting through the day can be rough. From being bombarded with assignments to hour-long bus rides, when the smallest things go your way, it’s an awesome pick-me-up that gives you the motivation you’re looking for.

Look out for these small victories to give you the mental boost you know you’ll need.

What a feeling. You think you have a long day ahead of you, then poof! Class is over and you have some extra time to do whatever you want.

Even if it’s only five minutes, that small period of time is the divider between sanity and crashing out.

Finding a study room all to yourself

No one likes crowded places, unless it’s a party, but the library isn’t. It’s the one time every student agrees they need time to themselves to lock in and get the job done.

However, finding that tiny nook for yourself can be hectic. But when the stars align and you find an empty room, it rivals the feeling of a spa day.

No assignments

Waking up expecting a pile of projects to land on your lap at the end of the day? What if that was the expectation, but in reality, there’s nothing? A sweet feeling. It feels like you gained a whole day just for you.

Work period, from home

When something prevents you or your teacher from waddling into school and the class turns into a work period, the possibilities in your schedule open right up.

Learning something new is what we signed up for, but it’s exhausting. Putting that knowledge to work, however, can be a nice mental break.

Not to mention it gives you time to finish that assignment you thought you had to do in your spare time or catch up on your other classwork.

Will you sleep in and do the work later? Of course you will.

Everyone’s available

A group that has to work together with polar opposite schedules is bound to happen. Most students default to splitting up the work and doing it on their own, with the only group aspect being a group chat.

When everyone’s available at the same time, however, it feels like there is a light at the end of the loathsome project tunnel. The end is in sight, all you gotta do is meet up and knock it out.

Buses line up

All your buses are empty and on time for a speedy trip home. Nuff said. Just the very sentence elated a lot of you, I’m sure. For the ones out there that love a peaceful ride home, which I hope is all of you, an empty bus is essential. Bonus if it’s raining and you have a great book with you.

Assignment extension

Picture this. It’s Sunday around 9 p.m. You procrastinated a five-million-word essay due at midnight. You got enough caffeine in you to seriously injure a horse and the words are about to flow when an announcement pops up.

The due date has been postponed. Even if it’s only for a day, you can breathe again. Now you have all the options in the world. Take your time and work on it past midnight, do a bit now and a bit tomorrow or never learn your lesson and procrastinate again until the cycle repeats itself. That’s for future you to worry about after all.

Easier than I thought

Dreading this hellatious assignment that’s been living in your head rent-free, thinking it’s gonna take you all day to do it. We’ve all been there.

Until you hop on your computer, and it’s the easiest thing you’ve ever done in your life. It took a fraction of the time and your confidence is soaring about the grade you’re gonna get.

Right in the nick of time

Hurry up, cram, throw it together and send! Quickly followed by a huge sense of relief when you just make the deadline at the last minute. That late tag won’t be next to your name today, no minus five per cent, no kicking yourself and promising you won’t procrastinate next time.

Celebrate good times. When a small win comes your way, savour it. It may only make your day a tiny bit better until you gotta do it all again tomorrow, but it makes being a student so much easier.

If small wins are just stepping stones to a big jackpot for you, don’t forget to participate in the IGNITE Contest! With less than a week left, all you have to do is complete our survey for your chance to win bonus prizes and a grand prize of $5000.

Don’t miss out!
