“We will solve the problem.” – Wes Hall

At IGNITE we value diversity and inclusion and are always looking for ways to advance our leadership and advocacy efforts.

We have taken several steps within our organization over the past year to combat anti-Black racism through events like the Black Excellence Conference and Anti-Black Racism Roundtable discussions. We are aiming to further these important discussions and are comitted to making significant and tangible changes to benefit the Black community at large.

That is why, during our March Board of Directors meeting, we made the decision take the BlackNorth Initiative Pledge. And we are excited to be the first student-focused organization to join the initiative!

By signing this initiative we are making a commitment to actively participate in eliminating barriers faced by the Black community. We are working diligently to implement new organizational practices to further these goals and we will hold ourselves accountable.

Board Director, Shay Hamilton, had the opportunity to sit and chat with Wes Hall, Founder and Chairman of the BlackNorth Initiative. They discuss the importance of this initiative, what it means for IGNITE and how you can get involved!

I encourage you to continue to have important discussions, like this one, with your friends and loved ones. As Wes said, “we’re here to try and make a better and just society.”

And together, we can make significant changes.
