Walk for Reconciliation

Thu, Sep 25, 2025 @ 10:30 am – 1:00 pm
In the spirit of truth, respect and community, IGNITE invites you to join this year’s Walk for Reconciliation. This event is an opportunity to stand together in support of Indigenous communities. It’s also a reminder that reconciliation is an ongoing commitment for all of us.
In honour of the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we gather to acknowledge Canada’s history and commit ourselves to building a future shaped by truth, justice and respect. We aim to remember, to raise awareness and to strengthen our collective responsibility to truth and healing.
Our journey will start at the IGNITE Backyard, North Campus, bringing the community together in one shared space on Thursday, Sept. 25, starting at 10:30 a.m. Join us for speeches, reflection, a walk and lunch!
In case of rain, the event will be held in the IGNITE Student Centre.
The event also highlights the importance of the Humber Indigenous Bursary, which is open for external donations—you can contribute here!
Our very own student advocates Emily and Selena will be speaking at the event and participating in the walk.
We invite you to join us, listen and walk together in honour of the children who never returned home, the Survivors of the residential school system and the generations forever impacted.
Check out our resources for Indigenous students, aiming to better empower, connect and support students across Humber and UofGH.
