Spice things up.
Although it feels like we’ve been in school for ages by now, reading week is finally around the corner. A well-deserved break is coming right up and you may be tempted to curl up in bed for a week straight. But instead of doing that, I’ve comprised a list of must-do things to make this reading week an awesome one.
Check out your guide to making the most of your reading week:
Catch up on some sleep
I get it, it’s been a long month of school and students are TIRED. This week off is the perfect opportunity to get the rest that you deserve. Sleep in until a reasonable time. You deserve it after having to wake up in time for your 8 a.m. classes. Once you’re well-rested you’ll have the energy to do all the things you had planned to get done during the break. Sleep is key to productivity.
Make a to-do list of all the things you HAVE to get done
Now that you’re well-rested, create a list of all the things you have to get done while you’re on break. Once you have a visual, you can manage your time according to how much you have to get done. Check off everything you’ve completed so you’re on track and keep the progress moving. Stay on top of things, and don’t let anything slip past you this reading week.
Get your homework out of the way ASAP
Now, I know this isn’t the most exciting thing to hear but midterms and assignments are usually scheduled for right after the reading week. The last thing you want is to be scrambling to finish your assignments the Sunday night before school starts back up. Your best bet is to try getting your studying out of the way at the beginning of the week so you can actually enjoy the rest of your break guilt-free.
Plan a café study date with friends
Just because you have homework and studying doesn’t mean you have to lock yourself in your room for a week. Plan a study date with friends because chances are, they’re on the same boat as you. Visit a cute café near you and get your homework and studying done. Studying in a group is definitely more exciting and a good opportunity to share notes. It will also ensure you all do your very best on your midterms.
I mean come on, studying at a cute coffee shop with a good latte and some baked goods definitely sounds better than being stuck studying alone in bed.
Once you’re done…
Binge watch your fave shows
Finally, the moment we’ve all been waiting for. Since school has started, chances are you’ve held back on watching your favourite shows—cruel right? Well, now’s your chance. Grab yourself a bowl of popcorn, a cozy blanket and pop on some fuzzy socks to have yourself the most epic show marathon. If you need me, you can find me binging season 15 of Greys Anatomy.
Visit a pumpkin patch to give your Instagram a much-needed fall boost
Are you a photographer in need of a new photoshoot spot? Just need a fire new Instagram post? Pumpkin patches are always the answer. Plan a trip to a pumpkin patch with your besties. Check out Downey’s Farm for all your pumpkin patch needs. This cute, family-owned farm is located in Caledon, about an hour from Toronto. Buy pumpkins and fresh fruits at the farmers market and baked goods from the bakery. After you’re well-fed, explore Pumpkin Fest and partake in all the fall activities your heart desires.
Grab your friends and host an awesome pumpkin paint party
Seriously—what screams fall more than pumpkins? If you’re like me, that’s probably one of your favourite things about the season. Now that you’ve got your pumpkins from the pumpkin patch, decorate them however you’d like. Pumpkin carving is so 2000 and late anyways. Have a pumpkin paint party with your besties, to take a twist on the classic canvas paint night.
