“Work work work work work work.” —Rihanna, 2016

What do extra money, work experience and good friends have in common?

Students need all of them.

You could balance your time working off-campus, volunteering at various businesses and hosting virtual movie nights—or, you could get everything you need in one place by working with IGNITE.

You can reap all the benefits of an on-campus job right now through a remote position—since IGNITE’s services have moved online due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Applications for part-time jobs open Monday, July 13.

I’ve had jobs on and off-campus and when I say IGNITE is the place to work as a student, I mean it. Here’s why:

Work around your classes

IGNITE’s mission is to make student life easier. That includes the students who work with us. All of our part-time jobs offer flexible hours built around your class schedule.

You have an exam at the end of the week and need to adjust your hours so you can study? You’ve got it. You have some extra time and want to pick up a shift? You’ve got it.

No matter your needs, you’ve got it—because we’ve got you.

Build your skills

Working on-campus lets you apply the skills you learn in class to real-life scenarios. And, you can take what you learn from those real-life scenarios and use it to improve in class. It’s, like, the opposite of a vicious cycle. A super cycle.

Plus, on-campus jobs often provide relevant experience for your desired career path—so you can get your foot in the door before graduation.

Get involved

You’re constantly hearing about all the activities happening on campus. You want to get involved, but you aren’t sure where to start.

Sound familiar? Working with IGNITE is your solution.

IGNITE is behind many of the initiatives you know and love—from Real Talks to, most recently, our weekly Instagram Live series Earning & Learning Live and What the Health LiveWorking with IGNITE gives you access to firsthand information on all our upcoming events. As a result, you get more involved and can help spread the word to your peers!

Make connections

When you work with IGNITE, your peers are your co-workers. That means you get tons of opportunities to make friends with people who share your passions—friends who will uplift you both at work and in class.

IGNITE employs students across all Humber and Guelph-Humber campuses in a variety of specialized positions. So, working on campus gives you the chance to meet people you might not otherwise get to know. Not only does that lead to a healthier social life, but it can also help set up industry connections and future work opportunities.

Pals, partners, possibilities. It’s a dream come true!

Impress employers

Actor Timothee Chalamet says, "What you do is very baller."

Working at IGNITE gives you secure employment while you’re in school—and it can help you secure employment post-graduation. How? By adding your position to your Co-Curricular Record!

Your Co-Curricular Record (CCR) keeps track of all the skill development you’ve done outside the classroom. That includes workshops, volunteering, and, yes, on-campus jobs.

You can add experiences to your CCR online while you’re in school. Then, bring it into a job interview along with your resumé to show that you’re educated and motivated.
