Something is smoking hot here, and it’s not the weather — students’ fits are on fire!
The time has finally come to dress in your best outfits and enjoy the warm weather!
Whether you are looking for fashion inspiration for a trip, upcoming plans or your everyday OOTD, you’ve come to the right place.
This edition of the Street Styles brings you some of the best tips and trends from students to be the most fashionable around the city this summer.
Juanita Moreno, graphic design and advertising

Juanita Moreno is all about making every outfit colourful. Some of her favourite summer colours are “bright pinks, electric blues and juicy greens.”
“It’s all about making colour the protagonist of that day — the more vibrant, the better!”
Juanita Moreno
Moreno likes to show her love for colour with preppy, hyper-feminine clothes inspired by Japanese styles like Kogal and Decora. Plus, she recommends colour-coding outfits.
“For example, on Mondays I go with a purple outfit, and Tuesdays a yellow,” Moreno said.
Right when summer starts, Moreno swaps jeans for skirts — long, short, pleated, denim — any kind! To create unique outfits, she even gets some of her clothes from her parents’ closet. Moreno said she has found great finds from her mom, such as an intact large polo collection.
Finally, Moreno said she wants to see a comeback of 80s aerobics workout clothes this summer. Imagine leg warmers and high-cut bodysuits — what do you think?
Spencer Noel, fashion management

Fashion student Spencer Noel definitely knows the best tips for staying cool and stylish in hot weather. His take on summer fashion? Ditch the layers for light fabrics and oversized pieces.
Some of his summer staples include loose cotton tees, mesh shorts, linen button-ups and baseball hats. And the stars of the show are always his shoes — sneakers, loafers, slides — you name it.
To stay cool, Noel prefers minimalist, basic pieces with a clean look in neutral colours like beige, white, light grey and pastels.
His best tip so far?
“If you don’t wanna sweat in it, don’t wear it,” Noel said. He suggests wearing loose and comfy pieces like a good white tee or loose-fitting pleated shorts to keep your outfits breathable.
Harleen Deol, marketing

Harleen Deol loves midi and maxi dresses and skirts for summer. She likes to pair them with accessories like sunglasses and bracelets.
“They complete any outfit,” Deol said.
For this season’s colours, Deol is going for neutral and pastels like white, baby pink, light shades of blue and soft purple. She also loves floral and cheetah prints to make her outfits stand out.
Deol described her style as “elegant, effortless, city girl with a dark feminine aesthetic.” For inspiration within this style, she follows Alexandra Saint Mleux.
“Choose pieces you can wear multiple ways rather than buying something that only works once.”
Harleen Deol
Her fashion prediction for this summer?
“Simple, chic and feminine style with flowy fabrics, lace and even a bit of sparkle with sequins.”
Dong Anh Tran, digital business management

Dong Anh Tran is another fan of the Japanese style. Tran said he loves clothes suitable for any occasion — from going to a cafe to work or even grocery shopping.
His preferred summer items include white t-shirts, cargo shorts, button-up shirts and colourful bandanas. Tran said most of these pieces are comfortable and convenient for staying cool.
“Pay attention to the fabric you are wearing. Cotton and linen are more breathable, and you can always layer some lightweight jackets and accessories.”
Dong Anh Tran
As for prints, Tran likes to add stripes to make his look unique. Whether bold or thin, he will pull them off!
He said that one item he’s been seeing a lot on social media is clasp jackets, maybe not under the sun, but definitely for windy beach days.
Fabián Pinto González, marketing

The next fashion icon is Fabián Pinto González, the true definition of a relaxed yet put-together style.
Pinto González’s summer closet consists of lightweight and breathable fabrics, as well as staple pieces like Birkenstocks, jorts, linen pants and oversized tees — plus bandanas! He always keeps one on hand as a “little add-on for any outfit.”
He also gravitates toward light colours like baby blue, subtle stripes and washed-out patterns for summer.
“Go for what makes you feel good and comfortable — don’t just follow trends blindly.”
Fabián Pinto González
Key items Pinto González is seeing trending right now are crossbodies and small shoulder bags for men, relaxed shirts, coastal colours and crochet pieces.
Aranza Bustillos, international business

Aranza Bustillos described her style as “a mix of sexy, put together and a little glam.”
“Mix basics with a few bold statement outfits and never overthink it. Confidence makes any outfit look better.”
Aranza Bustillos
Clothes like mini skirts, crop tops, bikinis, strappy dresses and chill sets are a must for Bustillos on summer days. Plus, flats and vintage pieces.
Her favourite colours for the season are earth tones, neutrals, soft pastels and a good pop of red. Bustillos also said she’s into denim, florals and abstract patterns for an added visual effect.

What did you think about this summer outfit rotation? Personally, it was everything I needed to stay stylish all summer long!
I hope these tips help you get the most outfit compliments and inspire you to try new styles, clothes and colours.
See you next semester!
