We are proud to announce that 2,300 students have received support through IGNITE’s Emergency Financial Relief Fund. Over $1.2 million was distributed to students in need.
The application process for the Emergency Financial Relief Fund is now closed. Submitted applications will continue to be reviewed by Financial Aid staff.
We encourage you to review government financial aid opportunities on the Humber College and University of Guelph-Humber websites. Students can also continue to enquire about financial need assistance by contacting Financial Aid.
Humber last week announced a new COVID-19 Support our Students Fund to help support students studying in the Summer and Fall terms. More details regarding the application process will be released soon-stay tuned.

Amid the global COVID-19 pandemic, some students are in financial jeopardy.
IGNITE is here to support them with $250,000 allocated toward the Emergency Financial Relief Fund (EFRE) for domestic and international students directly affected by COVID-19.
IGNITE’s Emergency Financial Relief Fund is designed to ease hardships many students are facing as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
IGNITE had unwavering support from Humber College and the Univeristy of Guelph-Humber, who helped to get this program up and running for students in such a short period of time.
Am I eligible?
Humber College and the University of Guelph-Humber students who are financially affected by COVID-19 are eligible to apply. Please note students must be registered in a program leading to a Diploma, Degree, or an Ontario College Certificate to be eligible.
Examples of areas of financial need may include:
- Lease/residence extensions due to inability to travel (international students, out of province students)
- Living expenses
- Additional travel expenses
- Child care costs
- Medical supplies
When and how can I apply?
The EFRF is currently available for all domestic and international students who are registered in a program leading to a Diploma, Degree, or an Ontario College Certificate.
For Humber students:
To apply, please email finaid@humber.ca and outline the basis of your financial need.
You will be asked to complete a budget form and write a short statement on how the COVID-19 situation is affecting your finances.
For Guelph-Humber students:
To apply, please email finaid@guelphhumber.ca and outline the basis of your financial need.

Funds are allocated on a case-by-case basis.
Factors include expenses, income, family support, academic standing, part-time employment opportunities, and personal circumstances.

The amounts awarded are based on individual needs and requests.
