Pause the Netflix.
With summer fast approaching, you’re likely to have more time on your hands to spend with bae. Ontario is full of amazing experiences and adventures that you may not have considered before.
If you’re getting tired of the usual movie date and want to spice things up a bit check out these 10 unique date ideas:
1. Zipline across Niagara Falls.
If you live in Ontario you’ve likely visited Niagara Falls at some point. Though Niagara doesn’t sound too unique, this experience surely is. Unleash your inner daredevil with your S.O. by zip-lining across Niagara Falls. If you’ve wanted to catch the best view of the falls then this is it. With prices starting at $49.99 for a 2-hour experience this is something you shouldn’t miss out on. Snag your tickets here.
2. Bike ride in Port Credit.
Port Credit is BEAUTIFUL! Grab your bikes and pedal away with your bae. The beautiful scenery of lakes and cute ice cream shops are sure enough to get you the cutest date possible. Take a route along the many parks and breathe in the fresh lakeside air. While you’re there stop by Dairy Cream to enjoy a much-needed ice cream cone on a hot summer’s day. After all the biking you’ll do, I think you both deserve it.
3. Rave out at Digital Dreams.
Now, this is my kind of date. Grab your rave buddy and check out the Digital Dreams Music Festival this year. Digital runs from June 29-30 at RBC Echo Beach. Tickets sell out fast so snag yours ASAP! Wanna make it an even more memorable experience? Book a hotel near the venue to save yourselves the mission each day—especially after a late night. BUT, the event gets busy so make sure your book a room fast! Jamming out with your bae is such a nostalgic experience. It’s true bliss to experience that with someone you love! If you love music, then this date is the one for you!
4. Go camping at one of Ontario’s many provincial parks.
Take a break from the hustle and bustle of the city and relax together on a camping trip. There’s nothing quite like camping with loved ones. You can disconnect from society, social media, and the regular luxuries you take advantage of every day. This might just be me, but everything seems much more mesmerizing when you’re in the great outdoors. Food tastes better cooked over a fire, and the starry night sky is nothing like the scattered one you see in the big old city. With beaches at your footsteps and beautiful hiking trails, there isn’t much not to like. This is definitely something you need to do with bae at some point in your relationship.
5. Paint your heart away at Paint Nite.
Looking for an artistic outlet? Want to unleash your inner artist? This unique date experience is just what you need to spice up your date night. Don’t worry, you don’t have to be an artist to attend this class. People of all different skill sets can attend and have fun. Creativity is KEY. This is a 19+ event so you can enjoy a drink—or two or three—while you and your boo paint. As an added bonus, you get to keep your art. You can even exchange your masterpiece with theirs as a cute and memorable gift to one another. You can snag your tickets at a bistro near you and you can even choose which painting you want to do! Wine? Painting with your boo? Count me in.
6. Unleash your competitive side at SPIN.
Are you the competitive type? I know I like some friendly competition. Check out SPIN Toronto for an epic date night experience. This bar is nothing like the traditional ones you’re used to. Enjoy a night out, a glass of beer, and a friendly game of ping pong. Test out your skills and check out just how competitive your S.O. is. Place bets on who will win and get the winner to buy drinks. This is such a fun experience and a wide stray away from your regular at-home pizza night. You’d be surprised how competitive some people are. You’ll definitely see me there—winning.
7. Take a wine tour.
Wine? Cheese? BAE? Are you kidding me? This sounds too good to be true, but low and behold wine tours are a thing and you NEED to take one. Check out Crush Tours for the best wine tasting experience. The $150 tour includes a winery luncheon, complimentary pick up from your hotel or Airbnb, wine tasting/transportation (charcuterie included) at five different wineries in Niagara. Along with the beautiful views, you get to enjoy amazing wines you probably have never tasted. What are you waiting for?
8. Relax at the Scandinave Spa.
Did someone say spa day? Although I do love watching Netflix at home with face masks on, it’s nice to splurge once in a while. Take a road trip down to Blue Mountain this summer and visit the Scandinave Spa. Enjoy a day of pure bliss with your loved one. The Scandinave Spa is jam-packed with Nordic waterfalls, saunas, hot AND cold plunge baths. You’ve got all you need to have the best, most relaxing day. Take a day trip out or even stay for the weekend! But, be warned! The Scandinave spa gets BUSY on weekends so book your trip a while in advance!
9. Test your capabilities at Survive the Night.
Ever wonder if your S.O. had the capability of surviving the most extreme situations? Or would they just weigh you down? If thrill is something you’re seeking then this is the date for you. Survive the Night is a massive escape room experience that takes you through a quest to escape. Survive the Night, offers three different escape room experiences, Level 1: The Descent into Zatra’s Tomb, Level 2: Escape The Pits of Embermoore, and Level 3: The Curse of Edemarah Village. All you will have is a lantern to guide your way through the dark room and complete the games. Can you and your S.O. make it out in time?
10. Take a swim in Elora Quarry.
This infamous, heart-shaped quarry is the perfect date spot for the wanderer in your life. Take a swim and a hike and enjoy a day filled with adventure. Though strictly prohibited, many mission to Elora Quarry for the cliff jumping. While we don’t advise that, the view from this place is absolutely amazing. You definitely need to check it out!
