Street Styles: 2018 Frosh Edition

by Alena Blanes

#LooksOnLooks.

It’s not every day you get to see your favourite artists for cheap — unless you’re a Humber or Guelph-Humber student, of course. While IGNITE brought the free drinks, snacks, and fanny packs, students brought the fashion. Between dancing to sounds of Anders and Fetty Wap, to singing along with Smokepurpp and MadeinTYO’s hit tracks, students made sure to keep it comfy and casual for the epic two-night event.

So, whether you planned your outfit in advance or rocked what you wore to class, check out some of our favourite looks from Frosh 2018:

Christina (left) | Guest

Your top three wardrobe essentials:

Christina: “Jean jacket, high-waisted jeans, and a basic white T.”

Daniel: “Jean jacket, a fresh pair of shoes, and I’m usually rocking some black pants.”

How did you decide your look tonight?

Daniel: “We planned it last minute with a little coordination.”

What are your go-to stores?

Daniel: “All over the place.”

Gerald Mayhew (left) | Comedy Writing and Performance, First Year | @curlyjeenius

Your top three wardrobe essentials:

Chris: “Gotta go for the loafers, they’re comfortable for walking any distance and they make you look more mature than you are. Pants are always good, just in case. And then something to cover the developing beer gut.”

Gerald: “Band or TV-show T-shirts, jeans, and steel-toed boots.”

How did you decide your look tonight?

Chris: “I was just wearing clothes and people came to my room and said I was going to Frosh. And that’s how it happened.”

Gerald: “I thought it was kind of cold out so I wore a sweater because they are comfy.”

What are your go-to stores?

Chris: “I like Old Navy, but honestly I don’t really care where my clothes are from. I do comedy, not fashion.”

Gerald: “Online, mostly fan websites for bands.”

Jackelin Ronquillo (left) | Culinary Management, Second Year | @_jvrm

Your top three wardrobe essentials:

Daria: “Plain Adidas sneakers, jeans, and tank tops.”

Jackelin: “White sneakers, a black bodysuit, and jeans.”

How did you decide your look tonight?

Daria: “I didn’t really have a plan, I guess I just ended up wearing all black tonight.”

Jackelin: “To be honest, I pretty much based it on how I wanna look cute for the ‘gram. If you look good, you feel good.”

What are your go-to stores?

Daria: “For me it really depends, I like to get basics from H&M, and then I shop around for more exciting stuff.”

Jackelin: “H&M or Forever 21.”

Ladonna Cox (right) | AFTV, First Year | @ladonnzzz

Antonio Carcamo (left) | @antoniocarcamo_

Your top three wardrobe essentials:

Ladonna: “It depends on the season, but for me I like jean jackets, a pair of dress pants, and I’m gonna say fishnet tights.”

Antonio: “An interesting sweater, something with a cool graphic on it, some interesting shoes as well, and usually a headband. I didn’t bring one today but I think it’s important for an everyday look.”

How did you decide your look tonight?

Ladonna: “I just went to the Childish Gambino concert so I’m wearing the shirt and then since it has red in it that matches the fishnets.”

Antonio: “I looked in my closet and picked the first sweater and jeans I could find.”

What are your go-to stores?

Ladonna: “I usually shop at thrift stores.”

Antonio: “For me, it’s thrift stores or H&M sometimes has some really nice stuff for cheap.”

Amanda Leggieri (right) | Cosmetic Management, First Year | @amanda.leggieri

Jessica Fortino (left) | Cosmetic Management, Second Year | @jessfortino

Your top three wardrobe essentials:

Amanda: “Bodysuits, Adidas pants, and leggings.”

Jessica: “Definitely a bodysuit, sweatshirts, and tights.”

How did you decide your look tonight?

Amanda: “Honestly, it was a last minute thing. I had to be ready in 5 minutes so I just did what I had to do.”

Jessica: “It was the first thing I saw on my floor.”

What are your go-to stores?

Amanda: “Forever 21.”

Jessica: “Probably Walmart or Urban Planet because they’re the only places I can afford on a student budget.”

What are your go-to stores?

“Urban Outfitters, Black Market, and there’s a few other thrift stores as well.”
