You already know that winter is coming, but did you know Esmé Bianco is coming to Comic Expo?
Esmé Bianco is a seasoned actress, and has starred in shows like The Magicians and Star vs. the Forces of Evil. However if you’re among the millions that obsessively watch Game of Thrones, you probably know her best as Ros, Littlefinger’s fiery red-headed brothel manager.
Ros first appeared in Winterfell and worked her way up the ranks in King’s Landing under Petyr Baelish’s guidance. But did you know that Bianco was originally only cast to play an unnamed character in the pilot? Her enormous talent inspired show creators, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, to create Ros, who was the first character created just for the show.
Bianco played one of the most invigorating characters, and now she’s coming to IGNITE’s Comic Expo! It’s taking place at the North campus on October 17th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a Q & A from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. at KX205, and a Meet & Greet from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m in the Student Centre.
For Lakeshore students, Comic Expo is on October 18th from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., with a Q & A from 11:15 a.m. to 12 p.m. in K Building, and a Meet & Greet from 12:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the L cafeteria.
A triple threat
Originally from England, Bianco studied Drama and Theatre Arts at Goldsmiths at the University of London. She started as a model for high-end lingerie companies like Agent Provocateur. Before moving to L.A., she was also a burlesque and cabaret performer, appearing in performances for Sting, Vanity Fair, and more.
She’s also making her presence known in the music scene. In fact she kicked off her acting career in music videos for Robbie Williams and Slayer.
But it doesn’t stop there. In addition to being theatrically trained, she’s also a DJ (check her out on Soundcloud), and co-founded deep house party and label, HERITAGE. Can she be any cooler?
She’s true to herself
Although she’s widely recognized, Bianco remains very humble and is grateful to her fan base. “I couldn’t do my job if it wasn’t for the support of the people that watch [Game of Thrones], and watch the movies that I’m in. I’m very lucky, so it’s nice to have an opportunity to meet people,” she says in an interview with Real Scene TV.
Bianco encourages her fans to believe in themselves. When asked what she would tell her 15-year-old self, she says she wouldn’t bother comparing herself to others. “Everyone has their own path in their journey, and you have to embrace the one you’re on,” she says in an interview with Happy Adorning. Her words are something all students can look up to.
You’ll also have plenty of more chances to see her in action as she’ll be in the upcoming comedy Hypnotized, and vampire horror movie Living Among Us.
Can’t wait until Halloween to dress up? Join the cosplay contest at the North campus for a chance to win $250, Raptors tickets or $50! Even if you don’t win, you’ll have fun just dressing up and geeking out with your friends. Check out some of the awesome costumes from last year’s Comic Expo to get ideas.
We’ll also have illustrators, vendors and virtual reality stations on campus. We can’t wait to see you there!
