5 things to look forward to at Humber/Guelph-Humber this year

by Benjamin Eppel

Because school shouldn’t be boring.

Whether you’re here for the first time or a returning student, the new school year has a lot in store for you. We work hard to make sure your year is incredible, through invigorating events and invaluable services.

Here’s 5 things you can look forward to in the upcoming year:

1. IGNITE FROSH

We like to start the year off right. IGNITE’s FROSH is a low-cost way to see some amazing shows, get some awesome swag, and maybe even get some free food (if you get there early enough). Get ready to go wild at our Neon Nights Party, then come to see headliner Lil’ Yachty! If you’re new to the school, you can always get a guest ticket so that a friend can come with you. Show up ready to party, and get your tickets before they sell out!

2. Axe-throwing

There’s lots of ways to stay sharp during the year, but we felt that there was something missing. You’ve probably heard about axe-throwing either from your favourite blog or all of your friends’ Snapchat stories. Now it’s your turn to try the sport. IGNITE is bringing this thrill to your campus! The best part? Admission will be completely free once you’ve entered our contest.

Speaking of contests…

3. Contests

Want to win a cool speaker system or maybe a free gym bag? How does $5000 sound? We think that all of those sound pretty good. Our $5000 contest is already running, and all you have to do to enter is finish a small survey. Keep your eyes open throughout the year for more chances to win jaw-dropping prizes!

4. Clubs

One of the cool things about post-secondary is learning how to juggle different commitments and learning how to spend your free time. If you want to spend it doing things that you love make sure you attend our Clubs Day to see our existing clubs or to find out how to start one yourself. There’s bound to be other people who love the same things that you do, and you’re sure to make some new friends along the way.

5. Class

With so many different things to do at your school, it’s easy to forget that it is, in fact, school. Don’t let the idea of working hard scare you! Some of those late nights and noteworthy professors will be memories that you share with your friends for a long time. You’re also achieving something great by completing your education – be proud of it!

We can’t wait to see you in the new semester! Be sure to keep up to date on all of our contests and events, since we’re adding more all the time. What are you most looking forward to for the coming year? Let us know on our Facebook, Twitter or Instagram @ShareIGNITE!
