by Sulvey Polanco | April 2, 2019

YAY FOR VACAY.

Many of us have been jam-packed with assignments these last couple of weeks. With summer on the brain, it’s hard to stay motivated knowing exams are right around the corner. Through websites like Google flights and apps like Hopper, you can get the CHEAPEST flights to the best locations! What better motivation is there than knowing that right after finals, you have a vacation lined up?

Here are 5 cheap getaway ideas to treat yourself post-semester:

1. Rent a cottage near Muskoka

Grab eight of your friends and head off for a road trip! Camping trips with friends are the best! This adorable cottage works out to about $45 a night each—talk about a deal! Sippin’ on the patio, enjoying the fresh air and starry night sky that you just don’t get in the big city—it’s a win-win! Plus, this cottage is waterfront. You can walk a few metres and take a swim with your pals, what can compete?

2. Hit the beaches in Los Angeles

L.A. BABY! Book a cheap flight whenever works best and jet off to the city of dreams. Los Angeles should be a destination on everyone’s bucket list. How amazing would it be to be a short walk from Venice and Santa Monica Beach?! Plus this beautiful house has a sunroof equipped and ready for your daily mimosas and barbecues! Enjoy the hot weather with your group of up to 11 friends for only $30 each per night! PARTAYYYY!

3. Sunbathe in Cuba

Trips to Varadero, Cuba are SO cheap. For as low as $735 each, you can fly off to Cuba for an all-inclusive, week-long vacation. That comes out to only $105 a night! It almost seems too good to be true. Included is the flight there, your room, three AYCE (all-you-can-eat) meals a day, unlimited drinks, and all the amenities the resort has to offer. Spend your days chilling poolside or kicking it at the beach! Enjoy live entertainment and your much-needed tan! Talk about BLISS. Are you ready? Book your vacay now!

4. Sightsee in New York

The “concrete jungle where dreams are made of” is next up on our list! This apartment is in the heart of New York City where you can catch all the action! Accommodating up to 10 people means ALL your friends can come. Best of all, the price per night evens out to only $13 each! Take Instagram-worthy pictures in Times Square, visit the Brooklyn Bridge, and indulge in all the foodie spots you can’t find in Canada! What are you waiting for?

5. Stroll through Montreal

I stayed at this loft last summer and it was so cute! Located in Mile End, it’s a quick Uber ride to all of the top hot spots in Montreal! One of the best things about Montreal is the bagels. Luckily, this loft is a 2-minute walk from one of Montreal’s most renowned bagel shops, St. Viateur Bagel. This is one thing you can’t miss out on! While you’re there, check out tourist spots such as the Notre Dame Cathedral, Place Jacques Cartier, Old Port (where you can ride the biggest North American Ferris wheel—Le Grand Roue de Montreal), Poutineville, and so much more! Plus, what’s more fun than a road trip with eight of your friends at only about $16 per night?!
