Student Engagement Assistant

Position Overview

Under the direction of the Special Projects Coordinator, the Student Engagement Assistant is responsible for informing and recruiting students to become involved in the IGNITE Board of Directors and Executive positions. This role includes promotions, conducting short presentations, and communicating with students, staff and faculty.


  • Recruit students for Board of Directors and Executives positions
  • Encourage students to attend BoD and Annual General meetings
  • Act as a contact for students, candidates, and student journalists
  • Consult and advise institutional departments regarding the BoD/Exec and available positions by advertising in the Communique and conducting classroom presentations
  • Review and approve all campaigning material
  • Prepare an end of year report with appropriate policy recommendations

Minimum Requirements

  • Easily accessible and available to students
  • Capable of commuting to both campuses
  • Able to work independently
  • Comfortable speaking to the public
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of student government and BoD an asset
