IGNITE Real Talks – Van Lathan

TMZ’s outspoken journalist, Van Lathan, is coming to IGNITE’s Real Talks event on Thursday, February 7th! The event will be hosted by Matte Babel, a Canadian born entertainment personality who used to host Much on Demand (omg, throwback) and was a correspondent for ET Canada.


Now, who is Van Lathan?

Van Lathan went viral in May 2018 after confronting Kanye West for controversial comments he made on TMZ about African-Americans and slavery. In addition to appearing on TMZ, he also hosts a podcast called: Van Lathan’s The Red Pill where he discusses subjects ranging from hot topics in the news to pop culture.



What you can expect from the event

The Real Talks event will take place on February 7th and doors will open at 11:30 a.m., with the show officially beginning at 12:45 p.m. Topics of the event will include how he got started in the entertainment business, his journey to success, as well as race in America and the impact President Trump has had on marginalized communities.

Van Lathan will also get real and discuss several of the hurdles he’s faced in his personal life including anxiety, depression and an eating disorder.

Real Talks is open to all Humber and University of Guelph-Humber students on a first-come first-served basis. Student ID and ticket required for entry.
