Job Title: Vice President, North
Position Type: Full-time
The Vice-President, North is a key contact and advocate for students at Humber’s North campus. The VP will contribute strategically to IGNITE offerings and ensure the mission of IGNITE is being successfully implemented throughout the campus. The Vice President works collaboratively within the Executive Committee to advocate for the student body to various internal and external groups.
- Pursue advocacy initiatives as agreed upon by Executive Committee and align with the organization’s strategic plan
- Represents IGNITE and the student body at-large at committee meetings, and in discussions with Humber administration
- Participate in student outreach initiatives;
- Participate in IGNITE campaigns and media outreach
- Work as part of the team to effectively deliver on strategic goals and objectives
- Research potential new IGNITE offerings that accomplish IGNITE’s strategic initiatives
Relationship Management & Public Relations
- Represent IGNITE as an official spokesperson at various functions and events at North campus
- Main contact for interviews with on-campus media; participate in IGNITE’s online communities
- Respond to emails, phone calls and online interactions from students, co-workers and partners
Strong interest in post-secondary education advocacy and student rights
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Must be observant and informed of IGNITE’s constitution, policies and procedures

Organizational and time management skills
Problem solving and decision making ability

Any full-time member, as per the Constitution, may be appointed in an executive role for IGNITE, provided that they have proven to the CRO that they are eligible as defined by the Constitution.
MEMBERS ACADEMIC STANDING
Any student who has resigned or been removed from a position due to being placed on Academic Probation as defined by the candidate’s Institution may not be appointed for and/or participate on the as an Executive for one (1) calendar year after the date of removal from office.
MEMBERS IN GOOD STANDING
Any student who is regarded as having complied with all expectations of the Student Code of Conduct and deemed in good standing with the Institution can be appointed in an executive position. A student in good standing is one who has not been in violation with any Institution or IGNITE policies. Appointed members are expected to maintain this good standing status throughout their term of office.
MEMBERS CAMPUS TRANSFER
Provided a written notice is received by the CRO from the Office of the Registrar prior to the close of hiring, students who are eligible full-time members of IGNITE, and have been accepted into a program of study at either of the four campuses, may be appointed at their newly transferred campus.
MEMBERS IMMIGRATION STATUS
Immigration status does not bar a full-time member of IGNITE from being appointed at IGNITE in an Executive role.
MEMBERS LEGAL AUTHORITY
A member who does not have legal authority to be employed full-time, and who is appointed at IGNITE requiring them to work full-time, will be allowed to hold the position until the required authority to work for IGNITE has been obtained. Should work authority be denied, the individual must resign their position or fulfill their duties without pay.
EXTERNAL STUDENT ASSOCIATION OR ADVOCACY GROUP MEMBERSHIP
In accordance with and in support of the Constitution and Director Loyalty and Commitment policy, appointed students who are Directors or Executives of external student associations and/or student advocacy groups not sanctioned by IGNITE are not eligible to become Executives of IGNITE.
